The story of Shyama is a romantic tragedy. The beautiful courtesan Shyama, falls in love with the foreign merchant Bajrasen who is arrested by the royal guards on false charges of theft. Shyama tries to rescue the merchant and requests her ardent suitor and faithful childhood friend Uttiyo, to take the blame on him and set free Bajrasen. The freed Bajrasen, fall in loves with Shyama for her beauty and the act of kindness. Later Bajrasen finds out that the innocent life of Uttiyo was sacrificed by Shyama to save him. Unable to accept the fact of cruelty Bajrasen rejects her. Shyama’s love and labour all lost in vain.
